A: The license of eXtreme Movie Manager is valid only for one PC and one person. Be sure not to share your Registration Code for the registered user's area, or your account will be DELETED!

Q: How much does upgrading eXtreme Movie Manager cost?

A: When you buy eXtreme Movie Manager, you will receive unlimited upgrades for free!

Q
: What are the evaluation restrictions? Do I need to download other software to make XMM fully functional?

A: There is no time restriction however you can only have 50 Movies in the Database. All the others function are fully functional. When you buy eXtreme Movie Manager you will have access to the REGISTERED USER'S AREA where you can download the non-shareware, fully functional version.

Q: What can I do to become a REGISTERED USER FOR FREE?

A:  Simply make a SCRIPT for a web site which is currently wanted. If you do, you will became a Registered User and have unlimited upgrades. BE SURE THAT THE WEB SITE DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE A SCRIPT or ISN'T UNDER CONSTRUCTION, or you will not receive the registration! If you don't know a which web sites to create a script for, there is a list of WANTED SCRIPTS HERE (the red are under construction already by another user).

Q
: When I import information from the Internet, Task Manager reports a 100% CPU usage, why?

A: When you import information from Internet the Task Manager report a 100% CPU usage, but this is not really true.  Because of the way the engine operates, task manager reports an incorrect CPU usage value.  A simple test is to use your computer when importing information - you will notice little-to-no slow down.
However, if this still bothers you, you can go into the configuration tab and select (in the Internet Options tab) the OLD n° 1 ENGINE.

Features

Q: I want to export only DVD Movies, how can I do this easily?

A: Exporting only certain types of movies is really easy.  Display only the movies you want in the main window using the display filter (in this case, filter by DVD).  If you open the Export Window you will see that only DVD movies are shown, which you can now right-click and select.  This works for every type of movie and every filter you apply. You can  also do the same when importing information from the internet.

Q: How can I PRINT a list of my Movies?

A: With eXtreme Movie Manager you cannot  DIRECTLY print your movie database, you must First EXPORT it as your preferred type. After Export, you can print your list with the appropriate software. For example, if you want to print a simple list of your movies, you can CREATE a TXT file, EDIT with a text editor and print it, OR you can export your movie list to EXCEL, and the print it using Excel.  This behaviour is deliberate as the printing and editing functions of these programs (txt editors, Excel, Word etc...) are much more powerful than what is available with eXtreme Movie Manager.

Q: I want to select all the movies in the IMPORT, EXPORT etc.. windows without checking them one by one, how can I do this?

A:  Right-click anywhere in the list of movies and choose "Select all", "Select none" or "Invert Selection" from the pop-up menu.

Q: I have a large database, and every time I add a new movie I have to search for it to import information... is there a better way to select it?

A: There are many ways to select a particular group of movies.  If you need to select all movies NEVER IMPORTED, simply go to the movie list in the main window and FILTER by: STATUS -> NEVER WEB IMPORTED.  You now have a list of all movies which have not been imported.  Now press the WWW button and only the movies which have never been imported will be shown -> Right-click and Select All.
You can also filter movies using TODAY-EDITED, TODAY-INSERTED etc.

Scripts / Internet Import

Q: When I import information from "MOVIE-MISTAKES", it deletes the previous comments taken from IMDB, how can I prevent this?

A: When you want to save the information imported with a script and add new information taken from another web site, select the following option in the ENGINE CONFIGURATION: "When import plot, user comments etc...add it without delete the first text".

Q: I want to download a file for a movie (for example Subtitles).  What's the best way to do this using a Script?

A: The new engine (release 1.0) includes the instruction #TAKEFILE#=#?1#=#?2# where you can specify in the #?1# variable the URL of the file and in the #?2# the name of the file. The Engine will put this file in the "Download" subdirectory of eXtreme Movie Manager.  Note: that the filename will be : Movie_Title - #?2#

Q: Why do some scripts always give me  "Script Errors" and others do not?

A: You must first distinguish whether it is the Script that is giving errors all the time or a Script that gives errors only for particular movies. If a script always returns incorrect information and errors, then probably the site from where it takes information from has changed the Script is OBSOLETE.  If a script gives errors only some of the time, then it is probably a problem with the way the script was written, but you can continue to use it.

Q: A Script no longer works, it doesn't find movies and/or gives ERRORS, what can I do?

A: Web Sites sometimes changes the HTML-Structure and/or the way to query their database.  It is important that you periodically check  the official web page to download the latest Scripts.  If a script doesn't work anymore and you can't find a new release of it, please REPORT IT and we will try to fix as soon as possible...

Q
: I want to import information from a web site about a movie but a particular script can't find it. However, if I search for it manually I can find the information on the website, what can I do?

A: The procedure is not simple, but it can be done. Firstly, COPY the URL of the movie that you found into the "WEB LINK" field. Now open the Import from Web Window and go in the ENGINE CONFIGURATION -> select the UPDATE MODE 2.  The engine will use the web link that you have found and the Script that you have selected to import information. Be sure that the WEB LINK and the SCRIPT are compatible!! This means that if you have find the movie on IMDB, you must use an IMDB Script to import information...

Q: I want use the UPDATE MODE 3 Function, but when I try to launch eXtreme Movie Manager it tells me that the movie cannot be found.

A: The problem is related to the Script, and not eXtreme Movie Manager.  Update modes 1 & 2 work with all scripts, but the UPDATE MODE 3 Require a 2° generation Script which MUST support this particular update mode.  All the LATEST IMDB scripts support this mode.  For other scripts you can check if there is the instruction #WEBQUERYID#, if so, it is most likely compatible.

Q: eXtremeMM takes very much time for download a movie, WHY?

A: If XMM takes more than 2 minutes for download a movie check if your FIREWALL block it ! Very much people have problem because the FIREWALL is active and doesn't allow XMM to take information from WEB!

Bugs / Problems

Q: The HTML-DATABASE doesn't work properly, if I click on the button to open it, I get an error.

A: This problem occurs if you have an old version of Internet Explorer.  Some users have fixed this problem by UPDATING it. Please refer to this web page : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q321915

Q: When I launch eXtreme Movie Manager, it freezes and displays "Loading Languages".

A: If you have this problem you probably have not correctly installed eXtreme Movie Manager.  When the Install program asks to you to "Keep the existing file", answer YES the first time , but if the problem persist, install it again and answer NO.  This way eXtreme Movie Manager will have all the files needed.

Q: When I try to import information I get the following error: ERROR 372, Failed to load control Winsock from MSWinsck.ocx. Your version of MSWinsck.ocx may be outdated.

A: This is probably due to the RUNTIME files not being installed.  If is the first time you are using eXtreme Movie Manager, you must download the FULL version with RUNTIMES. Another way to solve this problem is by select the OLD Engine to download information: go in the configuration window -> internet options -> select the Engine n° 1.

Q: Every time I launch eXtreme Movie Manager, I get a window that says:  Cannot find the file "CONFIG.CFG" , and I cannot close the window.

A: This problem can occur for two reason : 1) if you have not correctly installed eXtreme Movie Manager (for example if you have downloaded only the EXE)   2) You haven't the appropriate RUNTIME FILES (this happen especially with Windows98). In that case, just go to the official web site and download the Runtime Files. If you have problems tech support is available!

Q: The HTML-DATABASE doesn't display any information! What has happened?

A: When you Build a new HTML-Database, be sure to select ALL fields, or your HTML-DB will not work properly!!

Q: I have many movies in my Database, but eXtreme Movie Manager shows me only a few.  What can I do?

A: This problem occurs if the conversion of the OLD database has not worked 100%.  If this is the case: open the Database Manager (menu Database/database manager...), select the database with this problems and press the "REBUILD" Button.   eXtreme Movie Manager will rebuild the Database and all movies will be showed correctly (Only available in the Registered Version).

Q: All eXtreme Movie Manager windows have the same size, and I cannot resize them.  I have a MATROX Video card, how can I solve this?

A: This problem is easy to solve : the MATROX Video Card lest users set many preferences, one of which must be disabled or eXtreme Movie Manager will not work correctly.  Please download this file form more information on what to do (thanks to BlackBox for the Help!).

Q: When I update the program, I can import my old database correctly, but I loose the information on loan history and costum fields. Can you help me out here ?

A: It's quite easy : 1) for Loan History : copy the file LOANS.TXT under the "configuration" subdir in the new "configuration" Subdir;
2) for Custom Fields : Copy the CONFIG.CFG under the same directory in the new one. Please make a BACKUP of these file first
